General Business Fraternity FAQs
-
A business fraternity offers an ideal balance of professionalism and social interaction. We are able to help you enhance your career goals through our comprehensive series of professional events. These, along with our alumni networking opportunities, help you develop a professional network that extends far beyond your college years. Although a business fraternity is a great way to develop professional skills, the strength of the fraternity lies in the brotherhood and the unique lifelong friendships that develop.
-
Absolutely! Students interested in gaining both professional experiences and the community of a social fraternity or sorority can rush both types of organizations. In fact, many DSP members participate in Greek life on campus and are equally involved in both organizations.
-
Those who receive a bid from more than one business fraternity are considered a “Cross-bid.” At Miami University, the five business fraternities on campus determine a time frame for Cross-bids so those who receive multiple bids may take additional time to decide which business fraternity is right for them.
-
Yes! Each business fraternity recruits twice during the academic year (fall semester and spring semester). There is no limit to the amount of times you can interview for a business fraternity. It is common for people to rush several business fraternities more than once.
-
Each of Miami University's 5 business fraternities have different criteria that they look for in candidates. However, for DSP, no prior professional experience is required to rush. That's what we're here for!

New Member Experience FAQs
-
You will be informed as to whether or not you're extended a bid to DSP the weekend following our Meet The Members events.
-
New members immediately get paired with an older member as their formal mentor to act as a resource in their professional growth. However, over time you will find yourself developing a lot of informal mentors as well!
-
The new member process is approximately 5 weeks, starting with bid day and ending with initiation.
-
New members will be expected to attend weekly pledge meetings to learn about DSP's history, as well as weekly chapter meetings. Furthermore, new members will have the opportunity to meet our brothers each week through one-on-one informal sessions. Right off the bat, new members will have access to our service, fundraising, brotherhood, and professional events! Furthermore, new members will have the opportunity to get involved in our many committees.
DSP Recruitment FAQs
-
Delta Sigma Pi's recruitment process is broken up into two parts: professional interviews and Meet The Members. Every candidate is required to sign up for one, 30-minute slot for professional interviews, and attend one Meet The Members session. Although only required to attend one, we highly encourage you to go to 2 so more brothers can meet you!
-
For both our professional interviews and Meet The Members, dress is business professional. If you do not have business clothes with you, do not feel you need to buy anything! Just wear the most professional clothes you have.
-
While there is no time limit, on average, our professional interviews last about 30 minutes. We suggest that you arrive 10-15 minutes before your interview time-slot, as we normally run slightly faster than anticipated.
-
During our professional interviews, candidates can expect to be asked behavioral-based interview questions. These are to learn about the type of leader and team member you are. During Meet The Members, recruits can expect more casual questions, where we share more about our brotherhood and get to learn more about your personality!
-
Throughout our interview process, we look for individuals who are genuine, passionate, ambitious, supportive, and professional. We want to see who you are as a leader and an individual. Share with us your passions, interests, and ultimately what makes you, you.
