SERVICE
Deltasigs believe in Service above Self.
From our annual 5K race aiding students with terminal illnesses, to our work with elderly living homes within Oxford, we strive to use our gifts and talents to serve others in our community.
A few of the service events brothers can take part of each semester include volunteering at the Oxford community choice pantry, supporting the Ronald McDonald Foundation by participating the in a Pop Tab Drive, making tie blankets for hospital patients, walking dogs at the Animal Adoption Foundation, writing letters to Oxford Knolls, packing food for local shelters, cleaning up litter around Uptown Park, donating blood, and much more.
In 2023, our brothers volunteered
over 2,500 service hours!!

& Community Impact
Miracle League:
One of our most loved events, by brothers, is our frequent trips to the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League fields in Fairfield, Ohio. Supporting athletes with special-abilities, helping cheer them on, and giving them the opportunity to experience the joy and success that comes from participating in sporting events and activities. Check out some of the photos to the right to see the impact our brothers make, in the lives of the participants, their families, and the program organizers!
Junior Achievements:
Another great event our brother’s love is the Junior Achievements event DSP co-host’s with Bank of America. Once a semester, our brothers team up the Bank of America professionals, to bring financial literacy and education lessons and activities to the surrounding school districts within the Oxford, Hamilton, and Middletown areas and Talawanda school district. Our brothers love connecting with the professionals and creating meaningful educational experiences for these students!
“This event means so much to our community, but also our brothers. We love the opportunity to give back to the youth and to make an impact within our local schools.”
- Aiden Henderson, VP Service
Additionally, we’d like to thank our friends at Skippers Pub & Top Deck, for providing lunch and snacks to our brothers, and our partners at Bank of America. Thank you!
We Run For Michael Hayes.
The Michael Hayes 5K is a service event that all Deltasigs from Miami hold near and dear to their hearts. Michael Hayes was a brother of the Alpha Upsilon chapter who served as our president in 2003, but tragically passed away in 2004 from small bowel cancer whilst also suffering from Crohn's disease. All proceeds from the race go to the Michael G. Hayes Memorial Scholarship Fund created by Michael to assist students on the Miami University campus who are battling life threatening illnesses, whilst pursuing their higher education. The services provided to scholarship recipients include but are not limited to:
Door-to-door transportation to class
Transport to and from medical appointments
Insulin
Motorized Wheelchairs
Grocery Delivery
In the 2024 Michael Hayes Race, our chapter and our community here in Oxford/Miami University were able to raise over $7,000 for the foundation.
