BROTHER SPOTLIGHT BLOG:

Jamie McDermott

I joined Delta Sigma Pi during the spring semester of my freshman year. I knew that joining a business fraternity would allow me to grow professionally but did not know that it would bring me so much more. I have been able to benefit professionally from all the brothers that are eager to extend their support but also developed great friendships along the way.

Within Delta Sigma Pi I have been involved in the marketing committee and the fundraising committee. I have really enjoyed getting to work in these smaller groups and develop ways to continue to better our organization. Outside of Delta Sigma Pi I am also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and serving as the recruitment chair for the upcoming school year. I am a member of the dance marathon leadership team, and work as a university assistant for a course in the first-year business core program.

I am very grateful for the professional experiences I have had thus far. I spent the summer following my freshman year working at Globaltranz Supply Chain & Logistics as a Customer Solutions intern. I spent this past summer working at Gallagher as an Insurance Brokerage Intern within the Property/Casualty sector. I had a great experience learning about the insurance brokerage industry and developed so many ways professionally.

What I have come to appreciate most about this organization is how willing and eager brothers are to support me in my endeavors. Whether it's last minute interview preparation, brothers going out of their way to share opportunities with me, or all the conversations about what I want to do with my life, so many brothers have been there to support me. I also appreciate how much there is to learn from all my brothers with different aspirations, and unique career paths. I can confidently say that I would not be where I am professionally and would not have the same experience at Miami without the support of my Deltasig brothers and I am so thankful for this organization!
